The Bird Migration Research Station conducts extensive research on bird migration. Currently we are running 8-10 research projects on the biology, ecology and evolution of migratory birds. An important part of our research is Operation Baltic, a project that has been running since 1960, and which monitors bird migration on the Polish Baltic coast. This project monitors changes in population size, changes in dates of migratory arrival and departure and evolutionary changes in the biometry of many species. We collect data at Polish field ringing stations (Bukowo-Kopań, Hel and Mierzeja Wiślana), as well as during regular expeditions to southern and eastern Africa, and to the Mediterranean area. Our research is published in leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and regularly presented at conferences and on our website.
